Toronto Clothing Store - Case Study

An 800-product storefront built to actually sell
Client: Toronto-based Jacket Retailer
Role: Designer & Developer, start to finish
Built With: WordPress & WooCommerce
Skills: Web design, WordPress + WooCommerce, Product catalog structuring, CMS setup

The Brief

This client had a serious catalog problem... in the best way! Over 800 different styles of jacket to sell and a site that needed to make browsing that many options feel manageable instead of overwhelming. On top of that, it had to actually convert: this wasn't a digital magazine, it was a store.

The Ask

  • An ecommerce site that could handle a large, varied catalog without feeling cluttered
  • Easy product management on the back end, since 800+ listings means things change constantly (new stock, sold-out sizes, seasonal swaps, ect.)
  • A smooth path from browsing to checkout, since a customer bouncing between 800 options needs the buying part to be dead simple

What I Built

I built the whole thing on WordPress with WooCommerce handling the storefront (product catalog, cart and checkout). The real work was in the product architecture. Organizing 800+ jackets into a catalog structure that stayed browsable instead of turning into an endless scroll, plus a CMS setup the client could actually manage themselves as inventory turned over, sizes sold out, and new stock came in.

The Result

800+ jackets, one smooth shopping experience! All the hard work paid off with 1,500+ sales in the first year. Turns out a big catalog isn't a liability when the structure behind it actually holds up.

Want the specifics on how the catalog's organized, or the WordPress ecommerce setup itself? Happy to get into either!
